Galway Healthy Cities - Health & Well-Being Survey

A unique survey was conducted during October and November 2007 to get the views of people living in Galway City on their opinions about where they live, what issues are affecting them and what they think would make Galway a better place to live. The survey, which was undertaken by experienced researchers from the NUIG Health Promotion Research Centre, also had questions in relation to general health and lifestyles such as exercise and nutrition [pdf of questionnaire]

A representative random sample of over 1,000 people in the City aged 18 were selected to complete the questionnaire in their own homes, with 587 completed questionnaires.



Key partners involved in the Healthy Cities project, and who will have access to the outcomes of the survey, inlcude HSE West, Galway City Council, NUI Galway, GMIT, City of Galway VEC, Galway City Community Forum, An Garda Siochana, Trade Union Sector and Galway Chamber of Commerce.

Results of this survey are currently being compliled and the results will be available in June 2008. The Galway Healthy Cities project are committed to repeating the survey every five years to (a) monitor progress and (b) reassess need.
